so as of yesterday we have been here for two weeks and it's been a super great learning experience for both me and robby. work has been great. my work team seems to like me and the work i do, the church members seem to be very helpful and very nice to us, and BYU seems to be trying thier best to take care of us. with all that help and support i think it is very hard not to have a good day in india. Bangalore is a very smart city. people here are not like the africans that i am used to. they are very driven and very ready to work and learn. they try to do their best to live a good life. another thing i see here is a large middle class. when i was in africa i saw poverty and a rich upper class. the middle class was lacking thus the absence of a working class and progression. here in bangalore there is a well populated middle class that works very hard to get a living. i dont think they are of the upper class because they are not super rich. but they do have enough money to live a well decent life here. my mentor, Jayakumar said that it is because this is really the first generation that is growing up in India with the freedom of working. before this generation india was under rule from the british. it seems to me that India's freedom has helped them out a lot and i see a lot of progression with this culture, and to me that is really cool.
anyways i promised all of you some pictures of the apartment so here you go, the first picture was the balconey of my room, yes it is huge. this is my room, yes that is two singles trying to make a king size bed, and don't worry robby's room is downstairs, we're not tryiing to share beds:
this is my bathroom, i have my own bathroom and there is no shower curtain so it's a great way to wake up everymorning to an open shower. that hose faucette thing on the left side of the toilet is a small like hose like gun thing that you squirt yourself with after you go to the bathroom, we call it the indian bidet!:

Wow, what a NICE apartment! You're not going to be able to go back to all the tiny cramped apartments at BYU after all that Indian luxury! It looks really spacious. What's with all the coconut trees, are you guys going to start a little coconut farm? :) Are those just indoor plants there? Hmmmmmm, I wonder if I could grow a coconut tree in my house? Anyways, I really like it, it seems very clean and roomy. I especially like the view from your balcony, nice sunset!

i was going to comment about the coconut trees too, interesting. do you have to water them a lot? your apartment does look super nice, the kitchen seems like it's pretty up to date and stuff, do you cook much or usually eat out? thanks for the pictures.

I have observed the difference in attitudes amongst the Africans and Indians also. In India there is a large and growing middle class. There is hardly a middle class in Africa. Interesting that you too, observed that.
