Jackson for Thanksgiving

This right here is the peak that overlooks pretty much any part of Jackson, WY, it is the Grande Teton.  this past week i was able to go up with my roommate Bradley, to his home in Jackson for Thanksgiving and it was a blast.  Normal holidays it seems that you jsut do a lot of relaxing and at the end of the break you wished you had more time to enjoy the family and enjoy the festivities.  But it seemed like this week that everyday was a new adventure.  we had chores that we had to do around the house like prepare some property for the winter, setup the christmas lights, and so forth.  we were able to drive all over Jackson and really enjoy our break.  Even on Thanksgiving morning Bradley and i signed up for the Turkey Trot, which is a 5K race that was put on by the rec center here.  i haven't ran for a long time but i was still able to pull it off and get a decent time for not having run for quite some time now.

Something that was really fun that his family does every year is go and hunt down the perfect christmas tree.  On Saturday we went up to there ranch and enjoyed some fresh snow as it was falling and started our hunt for the perfect christmas tree.  we found a lot of trees but they were very big or they were not full enough to be a good christmas tree.  bradley and i also decided to get our own tree for our house in provo and we decided to get one for Mallory, bradley's girlfriend.  the trees we ended up getting were beautiful trees, and best of all the tree was the best smelling tree his family said they had ever had.
I'm not ready to go back to school actually im dreading these next three weeks but this week has been a blast and i don't know if the King Family will read this but if they do i would like to thank them for a Thanksgiving week well spent in Jackson.  Thankyou!

Horseback Riding

So we got invited this last weekend to go up to the Nelsons (our neighbor girls who are amazing) house up in walsburg. we went up to have a good family lunch with there family and enjoy some shotgun shooting. it was seriously soo fun but before we all went shooting there little sister mentioned something about half the group going riding and half the group going shooting. so me james and dave were the first ones to anxiously raise our hands for the horse ride. and it was probably the best choice ever.

We started off by driving down to the pasture with all the horses. what we didnt know was that we would actually have to go and catch our own horses. it was seriously crazy we had to walk around the pasture and pick out our horses and then we had to approach them and go up to them and get a rope around their necks so that we could have some control of them. we then brought them to the barn to clean them off and get them all saddled up. they told me that my horse would act aggressive but really my horse was so chill.

my horses name was Deputy and was amazing. i really just let the horse do what she wanted as long as it would run with me i was happy and content. it was seriously so fun. i loved horseback riding and at church today we got invited to go back up to do so much more farm things. im so excited!

our Mancation to the Kennecott

Thats right today we took a good saturday field trip to the kennecott copper mine in south salt lake. it was great; dirt, big trucks, and the smell of man labor. this place was seriously huge, i had no clue that this place even existed or that it was so big.

this trucks that were there were so big. this is one of the tires from the trucks. bradley drove big contruction dump trucks over the summer so he really enjoyed this trip because he saw so many trucks that were way bigger than his. seriously these trucks were like the size of houses.

i figured i would get a good posing shot of me and my mustache and the enormous kennecott mine!

Lightning Peak

This last weekend we decided to take a break from school.  i had 4 midterms in one week i was ready to take a break.  on friday night we spent the night up at sundance reasort and on staurday morning we woke to a beautiful day.  we decided to hike an unknown peak called unknown peak.  we started in a small hunting parking lot and couldnt even see what peak was our final destination all we had was a small book that james brown found that was from the 70's that told us all the trails in the wasatch.
it was a beautiful hike.  we hiked through meadows and sun and ended up in the snow right before the peak.
if you look closely in this photo you can see a man in the background coming out of the bush.  look closely
this is the classic summit picture of the crew.

More pics from Lightning Peak

from the top we had a wonderful view
when we got to the top of lightning peak we decided to go down the mountain a totally different direction.  we decided to just hike straight to our house instead of back to the car.  it was the best decision ever.
this is my roommate jeff costello and that is the glorious Lightning Peak in the background.
we ended the 9 hour hike in the dark with headlamps and walked all the way to the house.
it was seriously one of the best saturdays i've had this year!
