Festival of Colors

so every year there is a Festival of Colors at the local Hari Krishna Temple.  it is a huge festival where everyone goes to throw colored chalk at everyone and to just party.  its a great time and i thought that it would be fun for me and kelly to go to it.  we had a blast and as you can see we did get dirty!

Skinny Tire Festival

this is the ride that we did. it started in downtown Moab and went out of Moab and followed the Colorado river up into a canyon. it was a beautiful ride. we learned a lot of things from this trip: how to draft, the importance of eating good food, and the importance of getting out of provo and enjoying time outside with friends and nature.

Canyonlands

we decided earlier this week to come down to Moab this weekend to ride in a 40-mile bike ride that is being put on by the skinny tire festival. we cam down friday afternoon to camp out in the canyonlands national park which is located right out of Moab. it was very beautiful and our camping spot was right on the edge of a huge cliff.

Bear Trip

so after Castleton Valley we headed along I-70 closer to the Colorado border to meet up with our Biology professor. he had invited the whole class to come to a natural bear den to help measure the cubs of a hibernating mother and to learn more of bears. Bradley being a TA for the class and I being a student in the class both decided since the first time we heard of the trip that we were going. Once we got there we realized that Professor Black had invited his whole neighborhood it seem like. there were many people but bradley and i still got some good pictures with our our friendly black bear.

Castleton Tower

this last weekend bradley and i took off friday after classes to Castleton Valley. which is right outside of Moab and south of Arches National Park. when we got there it was dark but we could see silhouettes of the mountain ridges. when we pulled into castleton we saw this huge spire, finger-like tower sticking out and i pointed to it and told bradley that i wanted to camp there. and so we did and here are the pictures:

in the morning we woke up to a fresh three inches of snow.
